Everyone likes to go shopping with a plan — don’t. Some of the best fashion finds and hidden gems are presented to us in the places we least expect. Besides, what’s the fun in knowing exactly where to go, and what to get every time you set out for good ’ol conspicuous consumption? Yeah, we thought so. Take a chance on these local retailers; you’ll thank us later.
The once-doomed strip mall now houses more than 200 shops that offer everything from cowboy hats and ornate belt buckles to frilly dresses, cheap shoes, and chili-flavored lollipops. It's really got something for everyone.
What we'd give to turn John Waters loose in this wonderland. The second location of Atlanta's premier knickknack and tchotchke depot is the best place to look for board games, plastic giraffes, or, hell, even a Persian rug.
The hip store is chock-full of pop-culture artifacts and funky clothing rescued from salvage yards and estate sales. Owners, who say they're willing to cut a deal now and then, claim frequent customers that include Tyler Perry's production company.
