Georgia State University is putting a new grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities to work to preserve a treasure trove of photos about Atlanta. A number of big collections, including the photo library of the AJC, which provided 8 million photos going back to the 1800s, have ended up in the hands of GSU archivists. GSU is digitizing the works and making sure the originals are preserved and hopes to raise more money to insure they are visible to the public. CL's archives are also housed at GSU. ajc.com
