More trouble for Atlanta United

Atlanta United star player Josef Martinez has been suspended by the team for a week following a physical altercation with head coach Gonzalo Pineda, according to news reports. The locker room incident happened after a 2-1 loss to Portland on Sunday. Managers said Wednesday morning the suspension is due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”

The news comes on the heels of a Tuesday report by police in Cobb County stating defender Miles Robinson was arrested and jailed on Saturday night for not paying his tab at the PBR Atlanta sports bar. Robinson, who also is on the national soccer team, was released on Sunday after posting a $150 bond. The 25-year-old has not played since May after injuring his left Achilles tendon and is likely to miss the World Cup championship in Qatar this fall. Details: theathletic.com
