The 23-year-old nonprofit has planted more than 68,000 trees in metro Atlanta and now is planning the city's first arboretum - or "tree museum" - along the Beltline. Trees not only are beautiful and provide shade, but they also reduce the effect of the “urban heat island” and suck carbon out of the air that otherwise might contribute to global warming. Trees Atlanta always needs people to do its spadework.
